Question Only 46 volts out of 48

I just got a 91 Hyundai golf cart it was almost completely dead when I got it I tried to charge it w a Lester 2 charger and it humms but meter won't move I had charger tested it's fine I tried to charge batteries w a 6 volt charger then realized they were 8 volt batteries the batteries were originally at 6 volts now at 8 volts 5 read at 8 volts and the last one reads 6 volts is this the problem w it not charging , the cart won't even move. Should I get a 8 volt charger? the water is all good in the bats ,no corrosion I'm running out of options I'm trying not to spend a lot of cash YET ....on a battery in volts how low is too low before you can not bring them back?

You have a dead cell in the last battery that will cause the cart to do nothing due to the draw you probably end up below the threshold of operation as far as amps are concerned , the volts have to be right but if the amperage is low it will not work

Well that's good news I guess do you think I should replace it or buy a 8 volt charger and give it a try, I'm not sure how low is too low before it wont come back to 8 volts

An 8 volt battery at 8 volts is considered a dead battery. Has this thing ever ran?

A dead cell will cause the symptoms you describe. Most likely the one at 6 volts is bad but.....I'd test them all first before spending any money.

Good. Just checking.

A word to the wise:

Electric carts can be really weird at times. The biggest problems are always voltage related. It is virtually impossible to troubleshoot issues without what we call a "known good" battery pack. Mixed batteries, pack imbalance, dead cells, corrosion, sulfation, charger performance, water levels, specific gravity readings, all play a part in how well any pack can deliver the energy needed for proper operation.
