Default 1989 ezgo 2 stroke

I have a 1989 2 stroke and it runs great, but when I get off the gas it back fires not bad but it does back fire. have anyone ever had this problem let me know.

This should be easy - look at where your throttle cable goes through the carb arm - there should be a spring between the arm and the cable stop. If not, the carb doesn't close completely when you let off the gas, loads up while revving down or coasting, then *POP* as soon as you depress the pedal again and introduce spark back into the equasion ....

A spring from a click-style pen will work in a pinch, but the factory spring is a little heavier - try to find a spring that's about 1/4" around and roughly 3/4" long, loosen and remove the cabe stop, slide the spring on the cable, replace and adjust the stop and you should be good !!!
(if the spring is OK, then you're almost certainly looking at a bad exhaust gasket at the cylinder or between the pipe and muffler)

Thanks I think it is the gasket because the pip to the muffler was bad and i replaced the pip. I did not replace it I think I will make a new one thank you for all your help. I must have put about 15 miles on the cart this weekend had a b last.

I really enjoy my cart, I have alot of fun with it. But I got it to tow my race car at the track.
