96 club car brake job
96 club car brakes have been removed with no identification as to what goes where. New shoes are marked 17T & 17L. How do I determine what shoe goes where & what is top and bottom? Also, is the small diameter spring the top or bottom spring? I can do the work, have before, but had the old parts laid out as to orientation.

Re: 96 club car brake job
Letters go on top. L towards the back. L should be visible on passenger aide , t on drivers side. I think. Someone else can confirm. Smaller spring on bottom.

Re: 96 club car brake job
Is true on autos but isn't the leading shoe the rear/back shoe?

Re: 96 club car brake job
I dunno, maybe I'm confused by your post.
The shoe marked "17L" needs to be the shoe towards the back of the cart. |

Re: 96 club car brake job
Thanks Steve. The leading and trailing is what I thought, only confusing part left is your comment about numbers to the top. That means on the driver side 17T is visible and on the passenger side 17L is visible, but upside down.
In that configuration the shoes look right and I am going with it. Thanks. |

Re: 96 club car brake job
The letters should be towards the top on both shoes. None of the letters should be upside down but hey, go for it

Re: 96 club car brake job
"When installed on the backing plate, the leading shoe (stamped 17L) is always oriented toward the rear of the vehicle. |

Re: 96 club car brake job
Its the "t" that's visible on the passenger and "L" on driver side. Not the other way around as I said before
