G8 jumping out of forward

My dad has a g8 that tends to jump out of forward at times. It seams to be the worst when going down hill and you lets off the gas to let engine slow the cart down. Any ideas? Or where and what to adjust?

There is a hex nut on the front of the transaxle that holds a spring and a pin in. This spring pressure is used to keep the shifting rod in its detent. Maybe the spring is shot, or the detent in the shifting rod or the pin is worn.

Could be that detent, but I'd look at the adjustment of the shifter cables. Hard to explain, but cables need to be adjusted so they both push on the lever.

Think it was Block, or somebody that explained to me, that the cables actually hold the lever in a gear. So you adjust each of them with pressure against the lever.

Alright I will have to see what I can figure out on it later in the week. Wish I had known about this problem a week ago while it was setting around with the body off of it for a quick camo paint job.

MIke Mac, here is a pic and a quick video of my car. Unfortunately it has been in this state for 6 to 7 years now... It is a ss396 car with a 454 and t56 in it now and way more aftermarket parts than original at this point...
