84 Marathon Help
Hi,
I have a gas 84 Marathon that I've fixed up and proud of. Any suggestions on how I can reduce the noise? I'm using the original engine. Help Please, thanks. |

Re: 84 Marathon Help
My 85 is a bit noisy too, It's the nature of the beast. I've thought about lining the engine compartment with more sound deadening material along with the bottom of the seat too. IF you do let us know if it helped.........
One thing I will say about mine is it became a lot quieter after rebuilding the engine, It still ran pretty good before but the crankshaft bearings were shot. I noticed it when I was going to work on the clutch, Once I removed the starter belt I found the crankshaft had about a 1/4" of horizontal play at the fan side by pulling up and down on the clutch. Just for the heck of it ya might look into that, I was so surprised to find the issue and also so surprised how much quieter it is now |
