Default 1981 ezgo robins 2 cycle ignition components

can anyone advise where i can get a wiring diagram for the ignition circuit.
I am trying to get this cart running but cannot get spark.I was wondering
how to check the coil and ignitor as well as the "pulser coil" wherever that is
thanks

This is for the 2PG, it's a couple of years post-81 but the general components and layout are similar:

To test the coil, take a DMM set to "Ohms", you should get a reading on the coil posts (pos and neg) of 3.2-4.2ohms, to test the Pulsar, find the 2 wires coming out of the engine on the passenger side (red and blue) and test those with your DMM, you should get between 75 and 150 ohms there, lastly, set your DMM to the lowest "AC Voltage" setting it has, and test the red and blue Pulsar wires as you crank the engine over, you should get between .8 and 1.5VAC if the pulsar is good.

Also, just for fun, make sure you're getting 12VDC to the coil while turning the cart over, if you have good Pulsar readings and the coil ohms OK but you're not getting voltage to it, then check ALL your grounds (battery to frame and engine) - if they're good you likely have a bad ignitor, at that time you'll want to look at performing the "HEI Conversion" (search for it in the forums)

It appears th 4-pin HEI module is required.
Has anyone who did this conversion on the Robins engine advise what year and model of vehicle I can get the module from. From what I have read it is only a 1977 chevy nova??

Brew City Music is your man here, he has some great tips on how to do it and how to do it right. I am sure he will be along shortly.

I personally used an Accel module from a late 70's Chevy 350, they're all over Ebay, etc for around $20 shipped OR you can hit NAPA for an OEM style, that'll set you back $26 ...

As to the conversion, there are a couple of tips that will definitely keep you from having to redo anything (trust me, I learned this stuff the hard way). First, it is imperative that the module be mounted to a heatsink or solid metal to dissipate the heat they put off, second it is crucial to ensure that it is fully grounded to get a good consistant spark. I ground a spot on my frame rail the size of the module and through-bolted it right to the frame, which covered both bases.

The other tip is to pick up a new high-output coil, it'll set you back another $20 or so but it really makes a world of difference in the quality of the spark - I bought mine on Ebay (current auction number is 350353819495) for $17-ish and it has performed so well I went ahead and bought a spare, just in case.

Lastly, once you have the conversion complete, you've got a 50/50 shot that your cart will start up wonderfully and putt along without the ability to rev over about 1000rpm (which trust me, you'll notice immediately). Don't panic - this is just a really common variable with the HEI modules, just reverse the red and blue wires from the pulsar and you'll be good to go !!

If you need any other help, post or PM!

I used a Wells DR100 module purchased from fleet farm for around $14 on sale and this "HD UNIVERSAL 12 VOLT IGNITION COIL OVERSTOCK PC-2506"item number 350279753715 for 18.50 including shipping on E@#Y.
I Removed my oil injection system as most people here recommend and used that area to mount my module to a piece of heavy gauge sheet metal and mounted that to my studs from the removed oil container.
This set up works great!!

Yes, I knew that. I was just listing what I used. Your list is Awesome, it will help others find a module very easily!
