my thoughts exactly. it is a very heavy duty motor. I'd say the limitation was probably for the controller amps, but I have the xct500! I am going to set the rpms under 6000 anyhow.

for some reason I am going way faster in reverse. I did try switching f1 and f2. any ideas? when monitoring with alltrax I never get more than 3500 rpms. That is 17 to 18 mph. Not happy about this. I set the max to 5500 rpms. Is this a motor limit or something I can change with alltrax?

When monitoring with Alltrax does it say it's in reverse or forward??? You should only get half speed in reverse. There is no reason that you will get the max RPM setting. It's only a limit. Something else is limiting your speed.

I wonder if I have a2 and a1 reversed? A2 comes from the solenoid and a1 comes from b- I think. I am not going faster in reverse now but I am only getting 18mph max and the rpms are still around 3500...

I'd say the motor is doing exactly what it is designed for and what the specs says. A motor made for torque, not for speed. You can't get both with a normal sized motor. The field map is correct? Turbo/street mode on?

Motor polarity A1,A2,F1,F2 makes no difference unless it's going forward when you put the controller in reverse. Then you can switch EITHER F1 and F2 OR A1 and A2. That's all there is to it. There are some settings that can affect top speed. You want Turbo mode on to get more field weakening. You can ask Alltrax for a different field map to try. I did that and got more top speed with a different field map. I sent them my monitor log of a full speed run and they helped me decide on changes.
BUT you first need to determine if it's really faster in reverse than in forward. That should not happen! Reverse should be limiting you to half power.
