Old 2 cycle cart big block and reverse.
I may have a idea that will take work but it would be cheaper than buying a new rear end.
Utilize the old starter generator from a 2 cycle ezgo to run backwards, hook it up to the clutch and shut the engine off and flip the switch, in theory the starter should run the cart very slowly in reverse. And when you are done going backwards flip the switch off. Maybe this works idk haven't tried just a idea I though of. |

Re: Old 2 cycle cart big block and reverse.
Another way would be just like old rototillers do it.
A rubber wheel pressed between the 2 clutches. Harbor freight has a huge selection. It works but can be finicky on stalling. Seen a few gokarts with this. Just a cheap wheel on a slider that is jammed between the crank and the axle but the axle had an extra brake drum to make contact on. Saw one with a roller skate wheel in just the right spot to the edge of the drive sprocket to the outside of the centrifugal clutch that was always turning with the crank. Not for a buggy! Or more complicated with a belt. It works better at being adjustable and controllable. A small pulley on the engine and a large on the driven shaft. The v belt goes in a figure 8. You have metal guides to keep it aligned. Belt tensioner that is loose and has a spring to hold it loose. Only get reverse when you apply pressure to the tensioner and tighten the belt. The rest of the time it just slips. |

That's a new truck, I may be going by to pick up a 420cc predator. So I'll check that out and see if I can configure that. The differential rotates counter clockwise if I'm not mistaken, so for sure I should have forward with that engine.
