Default G29 died.

I have an 09 g29 that just died on me. Please help figure out what caused this.
-2 year old Trojan batteries - full charge
-altrax 300 controller
-motor from Plowmans

The motor or nothing was hot. The only thing was some ticking coming from a battery terminal. At closer inspecting it appeared that terminal was melted. I’m attaching a picture. What would cause this.

"The battery cable connections are very, very, very,… critical. So critical that they remain clean and properly tightened that when they are not, damage occurs!"

"It is important to understand that if you leave the connection too loose or to dirty it will lead to resistance and that resistance leads to heat and then excessive heat which in turn destroys the connection. IN addition, if you over tighten the connection you will either stretch the threads or you will begin to literally pull the post out of the lead which will lead to a loose connection which leads to resistance which leads to heat which, well you get the idea."

Yep, that's the result of a poor connection all right. even a bit of corrosion on the terminal ends can cause that.

So I would likely just need a new battery?

The battery, possibly the cable (check it VERY closely) & check your other high amp connections while you're at it. The controller & motor can draw a lot of current. Anything that could limit the conduction of current will cause you problems.

All other battery connections look good. The motor connections look good as well. About to pull the cover off and check the controller.
Going to clean the batteries off with some baking soda and water

Should I get another Trojan battery to replace it? Or could I get away with replacing that battery with a sams battery

Checked the controller and all looked good. Think just somehow that terminal got loose and caused this.
Anyone know where I could buy another 4 gauge battery cable. Went to auto zone and didn’t see anything
