Chargers not lasting
I have been using the onboard charger for my lithium pack and seem to be getting limited life out of my chargers Any suggestions on a better setup. My second charger just died. I think both chargers have lasted less than year.
these are the $100 chargers of amazon Not sure if the setup is shortening the life of the charger at all, but one LED is always on due to the way its hooked up to the pack. |

Re: Chargers not lasting
Cheap charger and onboard are not a good combination. I don't use an onboard charger because they are not built to take the abuse they get in a cart. You don't get a good charger for $100 period.

-what charger do you recommend - is there anything simple that I can check/do to get these 2 "dead chargers" functional again or are they trash? |

Re: Chargers not lasting
What chargers do you have? The one I am using on my two Leaf carts (one charger for both unfortunately) came from Hybrid Auto back in 2016 when I built my first Leaf pack. It's still working fine. Max current is 17 amps which is fine. I would even settle for a bit less. I always charge in my garage so I don't need or want onboard. My charger is mounted on a shelf near my two carts.

Re: Chargers not lasting
I had a charger fail. I traced it to the 110/220 selection switch. Replaced and all is well. Of course that might not be your problem but it's worth checking.

Re: Chargers not lasting
Not sure what’s going on. Found the recessed fuse on charger, close to the plug was blown. Replaced and tried again and made a loud pop and the charger started smoking. Unplugged quick but it had already tripped gfi - but this time fuse on charger hadn’t blown. Have aback up charger I hooked up and seems to be back to normal
Here is a close up of the area that is “burned” on the charger board |

Re: Chargers not lasting
Well I can say that is not the same problem I had.

Re: Chargers not lasting
Unfortunately, those things really are not repairable unless the problem is as simple as a fuse. Fuses usually blow for a reason though.

Re: Chargers not lasting
Seems both my failed chargers are almost identical. First one lasted maybe 6 months, this second one lasted just over a year.
Both seemed to have popped the fuse at the input, thinking exact same issue with both |

Re: Chargers not lasting
Not saying this is your problem but next time you order one get a 10a charger. There might be a slim chance heat is building up because it is taking twice as long to charge with a 4A charger.
