92 DS rear leaf spring install
Hey there,
I need some help here. I installed a rear seat kit and purchased heavy duty leaf springs. I supported the body and got a floor jack on the rear axel. I have the leaf spring bolts off and the shock removed but no matter what I do I can't get the axel to go up while keeping the sub frame from going up too. And yes I did remove the u bolts as well. What am I missing here? TIA |

Pictures?
Are the ends of the springs disconnected on each end? |

Is the new spring below or above the axle?

re: 92 DS rear leaf spring install
The spring is below the axel. The leaf spring is disconnected at both ends, The shock is removed and the u bolt is removed. At this point I should be able to raise the axel and remove the spring but the sub frame that the shock was attached to goes up with the axel when I try to raise it.
I have the body sitting on a jack stand with my floor jack under the axel. Perhaps I am missing something else that is connecting the sub frame to the axel? The cart is our vacation property so I will snap some pics tomorrow afternoon. |

What are considering the sub frame?
The engine pan? There is a single bolt that ties the transaxle to the pan right by the rear oil drain plug. Last edited by lockman1; 06-22-2016 at 09:02 PM.. Reason: changed info |

I suppose that's it. It is the tube that is running back from the engine pan that the lower shock mounts onto the end of it?

Yep!
Was your your original leaf between the axle and that tube frame/shock support? (I'm trying to remember from my buddies 94...) |
