96 workhorse- no compression
I have no compression..none at all. Is that also the reason the fuel pump is not working?

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
Did this happen all of a sudden? THe fuel pump uses the piston's down stroke compression which builds crankcase pressure to pump.

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
Why don't you have compression? Spark plug loose or blown out? Blown Head Gasket? Hole in the piston? I suspect everything until I get some more info, and pictures!! Without a sealed crankcase, your stock fuel pump won't get a pressure/vacumn pulse to make it operate. This is possibly from a dropped valve putting a hole in the top of the piston, or a crank shaft seal that is blown out. Needs some more troubleshooting to get the right answer.

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
1996, surely you have a two cylinder Robin, do both clinders have zero compression, how odd

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
Is the timing belt in tack (turning the cam) I had a screw come out on balancer shaft gear and shear the key one time.

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
The 350 cc engine came from a retired golf utility workhorse. Got this cart as junk (exchanged it for a set of carbon brush and 2 brake pedal springs!). The pistons were frozen. I re-assembled without replacing the piston and rings.
Without the desired compression, the pump won't work, I gather. I have decided to have a cylinder re-bore going up 25 thousand, replace both pistons and rings. Also, I am going to replace all valves, valve stem seals and possibly the small springs (or should I; springs still work fine). Thanks for all your inputs. |

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
If you put this together are you sure you have the cam timed right. If not you could be holding the valves open when the piston come up for what should be the compression stroke

Re: 96 workhorse- no compression
I have to admit, my first time to put together an EZGO. I am familiar with Yamahas. When I did the timing, I simply followed the manual. .004, cold.
