There's not really any reason why you couldn't do that and cruise it around for 5 or 10 minutes to flush your fuel line and carb except it might load up the spark plug pretty good. If I was gonna do what you suggested I'd pop in a new plug when done. (never hurts to have a fresh one anyway!)

I'm glad you guys understood that. I had to read it 3 times just to figure out I need to learn to type better . I honestly doubt adding the 1 oz to the gas while changing over will load the plug. It would still be 64/1 which is pretty week. But yhour right ,it probably would be a good idea to put a new plug in afterwards.

I would like other opinions on this. Does it sound OK to run premix at 128 to 1 with the oil injector running long enough to purge the system of the pure gas then remove the oil injector?

Thanks

Chuck

Yes I think that sounds very sensible and a lot easier than purging the lines. You will of course be running at ~ 60:1 for a short while but that is not going to harm anything.

Quik-Fix:remove the Float-Bowl Screw, drain bowl and remove, wipe bowl clean.Reinstall bowl and fire up with new fuel(also a good time for a new fuel-filter).This can be done in the cart in about 5-10 minutes total. If you are running the cart un-governed and flat-out alot(mine cries for mercy regularly!)Mix 1-1/2 oz.per gal.Hope this helps.

Thanks Dave Box and Pachanga90 I think I will go that route sounds safe and easy and I am a big fan of easy. also Dave do you recommend 128 to 1 or 100 to 1 mix. I will will be using my cart at the lake lots of street driving mostly. Some long halls?

I think that the difference between 128 and 100 to 1 is going to be neglibile, however at the risk of sounding like a pedant the manual says 128:1 and that is nice and easy @ 1 ounce oil / 1 gallon gas.
I suppose you could mix 5 ounces to 4 gallons of gas (103:1) but that seems a little convoluted. I have run all summer at 128:1 with no nasty smoke and my rebuild now has 20 trouble free hours.
Some folks do believe that a little extra oil can't hurt especially if they think that they are running their engine hard. This is not a school that I subscribe to but that's the nice thing about buggies, it's your to do what you want.
And a final reminder that is is not sufficient just to slop the oil and gas into the gas tank. You should pour the oil into your gas container and shake enthusiastically to ensure that it is well mixed.

While on the subject, what year did they put the oil pump on the 2-stroke. My '83 doesn't have one but it has a stock looking sticker on the gas tank giving the 128:1 ratio which makes me assume that it was originally a premix setup.

My old 1982 EZGO had a pump on it.
