help needed to find part
I have an '89 EZGO with a 3PG Robins 244 engine. I have looked everywhere for the hose connecting the breather canister to the carb. The old one became too brittle and began to crack and split. Currently I have a make-shift hose which was cut from a section of Shop Vac vacuum hose. It works well on the canister end which I have a hose clamp on. the carb end is too small to slip over the carb intake adapter plate. I have electrical tape holding it right now, but with the sharp bend needed it keeps slipping off.

Re: help needed to find part
May have to get that part from a EZGO dealer?
Does it look like any of these? I know these are not all EZGO but the one in the middle may work its pretty much universal. |

Re: help needed to find part
the old one looks like the one in the middle. It had a permanent bend in one end but was probably due to age and hardening in that position. where did you find the one in the middle?

Re: help needed to find part
If you don't find one I wonder if you could just build an air filter with K&N. I just looked here
http://www.knfilters.com/search/univ2.aspx?ID=S0012 and if you know the diameter of the throat on your carburetor then you can order one that would just slip over and tighten using the standard clamp. Dave |

Re: help needed to find part
Imoretoy, I had the same problem with my 90 Marathon, with that same engine. I just did away with all the old system and installed a motorcycle type air filter directly off the carb. I think it is easier to deal with and lets the engine get more air.

Re: help needed to find part
td, doesn't installing that type filter require adjusting the carb? I read in another post that if the air flow is changed and the carb is not adjusted, it could damage the engine.

Re: help needed to find part
1moretoy, the amount of air passing across the filter will largely depend on the demand from the engine. Changing the type of filter will make little difference to the air/fuel ratio. If it did then K&N would soon be out of business.
As soon as things warm up here in Virginia I shall ditch the 1986 EZGO canister and install a direct K&N filter. Dave |
