HEI upgrade do I need a new coil?
I just performed the HEI upgrade for my 87 2PG and now with the pulsar connected like the diagram the engine backfires. If I reverse the pulsar leads it won't start.
Do I have to use the automotive style coil? Could this be the issue? |

I wired in my Ford TFI coil and it runs like a top! I guess you DO need a automotive coil with the HEI upgrade.

great! do you have a part # for the coil, or better desciption? like year, model, engine size, etc

I originally used a GM coil with my mod, but swapped to a $15 high-output universal 12v ATV coil off Ebay and WHAT a difference - when I first did the mod I used the factory coil and had similar issues so I would definitely hit Ebay or the parts store for a coil

I used an Accel Super stock coil found at auto stores and a 4 pin Hei module out of a 77 chevy. The Accel coil REALLY made a difference!!
