Go to the sticky post above in this section about yamaha wiring diagrams and get the one for your cart. There should be a ground off the ground cable (from battery) on the solenoids that grounds all the ignition stuff. If the gen turns forward and reverse via the key then odds are the key/pedal are working and its a wiring issue to the ignition or a bad part. Wiring issues are very common you have to check every wire. I'd start with the ground wire and its fuse, the positive one, check all the connections and look for damage to wires. You can use the diagram to test power.
