Default 2009 g29 jumper wire?????

A few weeks ago had starting troubles with my cart which turned out to be clogged jets in the carb. While troubleshooting I found a wire that the previous golf course mechanic or whoever installed on the cart. The large black wire on the negative post of the battery has some of the rubber stripped off and a 16 guage piece of wire wrapped around the large black wire and electrical taped for protection.the other end of the jumper wire is spliced into the small black wire going to the starter solenoid.. What was the purpose of this?? I removed the jumper wire and the cart runs the same as with the wire installed. Anybody have any ideas???

Looking at a wiring diagram of my cart says I have 2 fuses but I can only find one fuse which is a 10amp blade style.. The other fuse is a 4 amp but I have no idea where it would be???

Default Re: 2009 g29 jumper wire?????

My guess is an intermittent fault, and someone found that wire would fix it. Wiring and ground wiring faults are somewhat common on older yamahas. Fuses can be by the voltage regulator, battery, in rubber holders in the wires. Also note if you have to ground an accessory to the cart frame you must put a ground frame to battery, as yamaha does not ground them. Best to ground any accessory to the battery. It can blow fuses if you don't. Many yamaha the connectors to the solenoid have been replaced, ones I have seen mostly G2 and G9 and a few newer ones. All grounds are wired on yamahas, back to battery.
