Default Upgrades

Hi. I have a 36v 2004 ezgo txt series cart. It’s lifted 6” with 14” wheels. I have 6-6v new Trojan batteries,4 gauge wires and HD f/r switch. I am trying to convert to 48v so I will be adding 2 6v batteries under the seat and will be moving the controller/solenoid between the shocks. I’m looking for more speed. I do have an alltrax AXE 4855 500amp controller from another cart I also have a Delta q 48v ( 913-4810-E3b) charger I just bought from a friend. I’m thinking I need 2g wire kit, in-line fuse for the controller, 48v meter (vertical if available) and solenoid with diode. Is there anything else I need?

A couple of questions
1 For the battery charger can I simply swap out the RXV connector for my D style connector Or do I need to change out the Receptacle?
2 When relocating the controller to between the shocks do I need to have a heat sink for that all tracks controller or can I simply mount it to the bracket Im making?
3 Also any help with the wiring diagram for the controller would be helpful.

its seems to me you have a good handle on your upgrade!

for your questions.....

1. YES
2. NO.....most people mount their controller on the stok mount, but that more about it being convient.
3. the only difference as far as the wiring goes is the length of things based on relocating the controller/solenoid.

oh and YES....Make all of ypour cables 2 ga.

Thanks for the response. I need the space where my stock controller is to fit the extra batteries (1 on each side) so I will have to move it. I’m thinking between the shocks is the best spot. Do you have a model number or link for the solenoid and diode I will need? Thanks again!!!

yes....just go to cartsunlimited.net and get the SD Solenoid, its #1 on the page.....just use the drop down menu within it to select the 48v resistor/diode.

Thanks. If anyone has pics of a controller being relocated between the shocks it would be much appreciated.

When you say "in between the shocks" do you mean underneath the cart....or on the "topside" of the cart?

Just thinking about things like water from underneath if you drive in rain....and water on top if you drive in rain. Or......how do you prevent rain from infiltrating the controller?

Top side of the cart. I was thinking of making a bracket for the controller behind the batteries. Here’s a couple of examples that were posted on here.

The shocks are mounted in rubber at top and bottom, so the leaf springs on the rear axle can flex in a snakelike fashion allowing the motor to rack back and forth several inches during hard acceleration and braking.

Make sure you have a lot of clearance if you mount the controller vertically behind the battery frame.

Horizontally above the arc the motor moves in is the safest for clearance.

I can't find it, but I'm pretty sure i used to have a picture of an AXE, MJZ400 and a reversing contactor bolted onto an aluminum sheet mounted between the shock mounts and battery frame.

When you get done swapping the charger handle (and it doesnt work), let me know, I'll let ya in on the trick.

If it works right off the bat, lucky you.
