Default Star golf Cart parts and info

I have a 2007 Star 48 volt. I am looking for a source for parts and info that will work for this cart. There is nothing that I have found on the internet, just sales of the cart. I would like to put a Stereo in it, and try to speed it up a bit (big hills in the hood). The local dude said he can put a power switch in it for $200, but I like to mess with things myself. Any suggestions?

In order to install a stereo, you likely have 6x8v batteries and will require either a 48vto12v or a 16vto12v voltage reducer.
Looking at the specifications for the Star Cart it appears that they come standard with a 48vto12v voltage converter.
Another option is to add a stand alone 12v battery but you will need to charge it independently.

The controller you have is likely a Curtis 1268 and is fully programmable.
From one of your earlier posts "Rough ride, unstable down hill with 4 passangers, Rattles a bunch off road, wobble in back axle, no info on internet."

I think you may already be programmed to the max with the regen braking minimized which is why it tends to runaway downhill.
If you want to reprogram, visit the Curtis website for all the programming details. http://curtisinst.com/index.cfm?fuse...tegory&catID=9
IMHO, I'm guessing if you're looking for info on how to install a stereo, the programming may be a little over your head and the $200 deal may be your best bet.

The closest informational dealer I can find to you is in Summerfield, FL or Mt Dora, FL http://www.golfcartconnection.com/starindex.htm
I think there are other Star dealers in GA, try here:

http://www.northatlantagolfcars.com/

I think the importer for these carts may be JH Global Inc located in Greenville, SC.

I just bought a 08 lifted Star cart and the dealer told me that most of the parts on the Star will interchange with the EZGOs. Only the chassy and body have Stars patent on it. The rest is EZGO parts. All of the EZGOs and Star are all chineese made but assembled in the USA. You may want to try a EZGO dealer who has the parts you are looking for. They may let you try it before you buy it. I do know that the front brush gaurd and accessories for the front end fit both of the carts. Even the bodies will enterchange with each other. My dealer did say that the brakes are not made by EZGO but made to look like the Club Cars brakes.
Hope this helps a little.

I'm gonna have to raise the BS flag on this statement. Dana/Spicer differentials do not come from china.

If you are talking about the Star cart, yes, Chineses made and assembled.

EZ-Go's use American parts, and are assembled in Augusta, Georgia.

Now, there are PLENTY of replacement parts that fit EZ-Go's that are made in China, and perhaps that is what he meant.

Golf star Tom Lehman was shot at, escaped unhurt in a random drive-by shooting incident before launching his challenge at the U.S. Masters. Now trying to concentrate on his golf game. How would you feel after this? Would you still be able to play?

If the rear end is dana like a club car, are the axles the same? I have a Star with a wrung off driver side axle. I don't know if they were driving it out a second story window to hit it hard enough for it to wring off, but it did. Waiting for JH in South Carolina to approve me as a dealer, so I can buy parts. I am a dealer for nivel, Red Hawk, LVS and the other suppliers, but not star yet. If a club car axle would fit, e a happy man. Happen to have an axle from a club car in my stock.

There are some dealers that have also been misinformed and pass on BS. Or, won't admit they don't know and tell you "what you want to hear".

New member here. I just bought a new 2008 Star 48v street legal golf cart for $2300. Not bad. You can see that it's more cheaply made but my wife and I are only looking for a cart to putz around in on paved streets. The kids can drive/destroy the 1990 EZgo. So for the money, it's an ok deal.
