Re: Any Corvette lovers out there?
C5s were such a leap forward. I've only driven a couple C5 Corvettes and I really like them. I have a friend with a 02 C5 6 speed vert. It is a great driving car. I also have a friend with an 03 ZO6. It's bone stock and all I can say is it's a badass. I haven't had an opportunity to ride in, or drive a C6 or C7, but I can't imagine anything being faster than that C5 ZO6. It is so quick, most drivers don't have the driving expertise to keep themselves out of trouble. Like Dirty Harry said, "A man's got to know his limitations." Base model C7s have more horsepower than his 03. A new ZR1 with 700+ HP, I'd need a lot of room, time and patience before I'd feel comfortable "gushing" that.

Re: Any Corvette lovers out there?
I do love the vettes. I'm not a big fan of the newer ones I must say. Since the somewhat changeover to supercar. They are geared out so far so they have top speed numbers on paper.... They just aren't worth it anymore. Not long ago I ran a few just to watch them pull away from me. But they just couldn't.. At least not until well over 100mph. I was pretty disappointed honestly that one of my favorite cars had been changed that much. Still an extremely bad*** car though

Re: Any Corvette lovers out there?
I too wonder why the Corvette has to cost twice as much as comparable muscle cars built today. Today there are factory Mustangs that turn 11 second quarter mile complete with suspension modes, line lock, and launch control for much less money. And these cars handle like a Beemer.
I'm not dissing the Corvette - it's a legend. But maybe that's all it is. |
