Change 8" wheels to 10" wheels
Bought 1st cart a week ago - Yamaha G16A. Seems to be in very good shape, runs good. Might add a back seat to haul 4 people occasionally, on cart paths. Don't need much top end speed, but now tops out at 13 mph & wouldn't mind a little more. What issues would I encounter if I replaced the 8" wheels with 10" wheels. Would I need a mild (3") lift kit or can stock suspension handle this? Should I plan on some clutch and or engine work to make up for loss of low-end torque? My thought is that this might be an easy (famous last words) way to get a bit more speed - but are there other issues or benefits I'm missing.
Thanks everyone Bkrdad |

Re: Change 8" wheels to 10" wheels
Right. I understand an increase in wheel diameter results in an increase in tire diameter as well. Since I'm new to carts, I don't know how that increase in tire diameter affects the things mentioned in my question (or if there are other considerations I haven't thought of). Looking for advice from those who've 'been there and done that'.
Thanks in advance everyone. Bkrdad |

Re: Change 8" wheels to 10" wheels
with stock cart you don't want to go over 20" tires
it is best to get a negative offset in the wheels 10" SILVER BULLET Polished Wheels and 20x10-10" DOT All Terrain Tire |

Re: Change 8" wheels to 10" wheels
Thanks Crash Test. If I keep tire diameter no bigger than 20", do I need a lift kit?
