The HF 22hp V-twin has had a lot of positive feedback, but I don't know how I'd feel about doing one in a clone cart mainly because if i remember correctly, they're only good for 4k rpm or less which really isn't that big of an increase from stock. Will it be a TON more torque, very likely - but if speed is something You're after, better to go with something like the VC460 which is specifically built to routinely rev well over 5k.

The other issue right now with the HF 22 hp would be parts in general even gaskets. It is not like the 390-460 clones where there are many suppliers of even the smallest part along with a TON of speed equipment.I am a little surprised nobody has come up with a valve train and carb improvements which seem to be the limiting issues on the 22 hp predator. But as Brew said if it top speed you are after the present VC 460 with it's 6k rpm capabilities off the shelf performance is hard to beat.

Well, with the extra torque and HP from the 22HP clone, you can easily switch to 8:1 gears and get your speed that way, and the engine won't need to rev over 4K.

Two items there .Between the engine and the gears you in for $1000 and still have a very weak charging system and an install that you have to fabricate everything. Another thought would the $600 VC with stock gearing still out perform the former in all areas? Lastly there is world of difference in support should you need help.Mud motors and tractors it looks to be a good fit.Golf carts ?
