I am not aware of any sure-fire ways to check crank seals but I don't know G1s as much as these other guys so perhaps they can confirm. I think it's more of a process of elimination thing. If your carb is getting gas from the tank, carb adjustments aren't having any effect on fuel delivery, and you are certain that there are no air leaks in the fuel lines then it's likely the crank seals are bad.

There is a test that I have heard of that involves spraying starting fluid onto crank seals to check them but those involve non-running engines. If an engine isn't drawing enough fuel to run, some starting fluid sprayed near the crank seal will get sucked into the engine by way of the bad seal and cause combustion a couple of times. I tried this on a couple of motors with bad seals and it didn't work for me, though.

Any quality two stroke oil is fine spraying starting fluid in the seal area is a way to check but the clutch side seal has the gear housing for the oil pump and the fan side is behind the timing cover witch is behind the flywheel so it's difficult to get the starting fluid where it needs to be quick way to check it is pull the fan shroud of and see if there excessive amount of oil/dirt on the inside of it that's usually a good indicator

It's possible the oil injection could be over oiling and that's where your smoke smell is coming from I deleted oil injection and premix mine at 100:1 only time I can get a noticeable smoke is when I'm really hard on it for long wide open pulls and the muffler gets hot and starts burning excess oil off
