Sure can. Looking from passenger side of cart just below the carb linkage on the engine case. Maybe a g1 thing but I would think all engines have some form of ID on them. how i knew the parts cart i bought was the dreaded j17 (82)

Ok , found this number stamped on the engine case right where mikeasis said it would be . J31-105165 ....Thanks ....
