Custom Club Car DS
Hey all,
I just got a great deal on an older club car DS (1988 ). Since I got a good deal on it I would really like to make it fancy like the luxury carts on fancy websites that are selling for +$10,000. However, I am on a budget. I have already adjusted the governor and can still only get 20mph tops. I have the Kawasaki FE86 engine I believe. What ideas/suggestions do y'all have for me to make it a little faster and custom? Last edited by lockman1; 03-29-2020 at 08:32 AM.. |

Re: Custom Club Car DS
you can get a high speed gear set for ~$300
custom painting is always effective if you do it correctly lift/wheels/tires will gain speed and style |

Re: Custom Club Car DS
if your playing with gov make sure you put a tach on it, you rev it up past its limits one to many times and your gonna be dropping a motor in it........why not go with like a 16 or 20 hp........if you post this in the big block forum you,ll get a butt load of ideas but the last thing is tweaking the gov all it takes is one person taking your cart for a spin and they are pushing it back to you.............................

Re: Custom Club Car DS
Sorry been inactive for a bit. Ended up changing the gears to 6:1 and putting a high tension torque spring in the secondary.
I ran it like that for about 7 years and I finally decided to pony up some extra money into it. I dropped a VC460 in it with the swap kit from Vegas Carts. Before I put the “golf course acceptable” muffler on it, I was getting just shy of 50mph on a slight downhill and 40mph on the flat. It’s almost too fast to go as the steering gets questionable as does the braking at those speeds. It’s been a fun project and I’ve learned a mountain from it. |
