Default '98 Ez-GO Hard to Shift F to R

Hey guys,

New here and I have read alot of useful info. Hoping you guys can help a nOOb out.

I have a '98 EZ GO.....I recently purchased it and have noticed that it is abnormally difficult to shift from F to R and vice versa.

Also, after I go in reverse, then shift to forward, occasionally it seems like the tranny is stuck in reverse. If I just tap the gas without the motor starting and let off, it will go in forward like it should.

I have looked at some of the other threads regarding shifting issues and they recommended lubing the cables......

Thoughts on this? Did I buy a GC with a bad tranny?

Thanks in advance!!!

If you look underneath you'll see one cable below the skid plate. This is probably the one that's causing you trouble.

Now when I put mine on I take off the skid plate and run it between the four bolt that way it can't get caught underneath. Just make sure it isn't pinched.

Replace them both (they are a pair)
You will be happy with the results.
