Default Backfire issue

I have a 2001 TXT with a 295 that backfires when I am decelerating.
It's becoming a joke in the campground, but nobody there has any recommendations to fix the problem for me.
Does anyone have any advice or experience with this problem.
Thanks in advance.
Mike

Don't have that engine myself but i would think you may have a timing issue as that will give you those type of problems.
Of course valves can give that also maybe but if you have a newer cart that may not be the case.

Throttle plate in carburetor is not closing all the way when you let up.

Thanks for the responses.
Can I adjust the throttle plate by adjusting the cable?

No, the cable operates the governor which operates the throttle. First see if it you can close it more by hand when the peddle is up and make sure the idle screw on the arm is not holding it open any, or remove it all together (not needed on a golf cart) If you can close it more you need to adjust the linkage. On my 2001 WH (think yours is the same) it has a linkage rod from the throttle arm going down to the governor arm, pull it off and adjust it a little longer to make sure the throttle plate is closing all the way when the peddle is up.
