Re: 1996 295cc Rebuild question
Sorry, didn't get any pics of that but its the lock ring that holds the wrist pin in place. I ended up taking the lock rings out of my old pistons and re-using them. They were still very hard to get in but I finally managed. I now have the new pistons installed and the crankshaft back in. I've run into something else now though and would like some advice before I go any farther. How easy should my crank be to turn by hand? Even before I installed the pistons it was pretty hard to turn. The bearing on the crank is fine and the bearing on the clutch side of the engine housing is fine, but I noticed after I replaced the crank seal on the crank case housing (clutch side), the bearing was very hard to turn. Is it possible for an oil seal to be putting too much pressure on a bearing? Or once I get the crank all the way in and end-cover back on and torqued will it free back up? Or is it supposed to be pretty stiff to turn? It's pretty stiff to turn, even just with the crank in and no pistons installed, but it wasn't stiff like that before I put the new seal on.
