Yamaha G16 build pics
image.jpgIm going to post some pics of my first golf cart project. It's a 1996 yamaha G16 that was taken off a course. From the looks of it, it was used and abused. The motor seems to run great so I'm not going to rebuild it. My plans r plowmans clutch work, Jakes 7" double a-arm lift, heavy duity shocks, 23-11.5-12 wheels, and since the body has lots of deep scratches I'm going to use a bed liner paint.

Re: Yamaha G16 build pics
Just helped a buddy of mine with his, had some pretty good scratches in it. Used a little plastic filler, got it sanded down good, threw on a few heavy coats of primer, wet sanded with 400 then 800 and looks perfect.

Re: Yamaha G16 build pics
I've heard that JB weld works. I've used bondo on plastic before and worked well.

Re: Yamaha G16 build pics
I have to put new motor mounts on and adjust the valves. I'm taking it to plowmans today for the clutch work. Don is going to spruce up the primary, the secondary and airbox he will modify with heavier spring and hi pro air filter. Also jets. I'm trying to make it mechanically sound before I start to make it look pretty with lift tires and paint. Let me know if there is anything I should look at or adjust that might not be so obvious.

Re: Yamaha G16 build pics
Ya I was really happy to see that plowmans is 30 min away and not in a different state. From my research, don is the man.

Re: Yamaha G16 build pics
I found most every post on jakes vs all sports 7" double a-arm lift but didn't get the answer I was looking for. Does jakes have adjustable camber. If u have jakes double a arm how do u like it. Correct me if I'm wrong but jakes lit is circle tubing and all sports is square tubing. I do like circle tubing better to match the frame. Thanks.
