Default 36V EZGO TXT Series Cart gradually coming to a stop with a good charge/batteries

I think I have a 2008/2009 year model. I know it is an EZGO TXT Series cart with 36 volt system. No lift. Stock wheels.

Symptoms: Even on a good charge the cart will run great for about a mile then progressively start to get slower and slower then come to practically a stand still within 100 yards. This occurring while being driven on flat terrain. If you let it sit a while and get back on the cart it will repeat the process.

I have 2016 year model US Batteries that have been checked and load tested and all the batteries passed with good health and state of charge. The water levels are where they need to be. The battery cables are tight.

The wire going form the motor controller to the motor will get hot.

I disassembled the forward/reverse switch. Cleaned it. Check the contacts. Made sure everything was rotating and making a solid contact and connection. The cart will move forward and reverse like it is supposed to.

I suspect this issue something perhaps related to heat?

Thank you in advance.

True enough..... is your drive system all stock? (controller, solenoid, f&r, & motor)

you made mention that the one cable was getting hot, how about the controller compared to normal??

What is "normal" for a controller temperature wise?

I have an older Alltrax AXE controller and it's only warm to the touch after some off-road crawling through the woods.
