2Five Cuts Out +

Hi BGW family, if any community can help me figure this out, I know it's you all...

I've got a 2015 2Five. All was working fine and then yesterday, I took out for a spin and didn't get 5 feet before the motor started cutting out. Almost lurching.

I thought maybe it needed a charge, so did that and watered it too. Took it out again today and the same thing but this time, it just cut out and skidded to an abrupt stop. I had to limp it back to my garage at less than 1mph and it was cutting out and lurching the whole time.

The other thing I noticed was that the whole spedo unit (including battery indicator) would sometimes restart.

Fingers crossed someone has a clue as to what is going on. Also hoping it's something I can fix myself :)

The symptom sounds like the motor speed encoder has begun to fail. However, the 2015 2Five also suffered from a conflict flaw in the VCL code related to a speedometer and the new (at that time) GPS module support. If you have not had this happening before, then it is more likely the motor speed encoder. It is a very easy fix on the 2015. Buy a replacement and it is easy to change. Where are you located?

Thanks Bob, your knowledge is so valued here (he and I have been DM'ing as well).

I ordered the speed sensor kit and will install it tomorrow if I have the time. I'll keep this thread posted and make take a few pics as well since I don't really see many around on the process. Though it looks like it could not be easier.

After everything, turns out all it needed was a set of new batteries. All problems solved and I’m back on the road. So, if your cart is acting weird, jerking and shuttering with random shut downs... check the batts cuz that may be the issue. Happy trails all!
