Cc DS with coils 48 volt question
I picked up a DS and just noticed it has 8 volt batteries in it. This cart has solenoid and resistor coil set up. I didn't think this set up ever came 48 volt. Is this wrong and should be 36 volt??

Re: Cc DS with coils 48 volt question
Depends. Some 48 volt Regen cars had a resistor coil on the solenoid. Got a picture of the coil setup?

Re: Cc DS with coils 48 volt question
Yes, the plug and resistors tell the truth. That was a 36v cart, and although not converted that way very often, someone has juiced it up to 48v...

Does it have 6 batteries in it?
Seems I read about a few carts a while ago that were 36V carts but with five 8V batteries to make them 40v. |

No it has 6 8 volt batteries in it. I think it is all wrong. I don't know how it hasn't burned up anything with 48 volts on it.

Definitely a 36 volt car with the wrong batteries in it.

the solenoids would be the mainthing to check, if they are not 48v you may want to change them to 48v. it will run good like that. will get more speed out of it too by overdriving the motor.

Re: Cc DS with coils 48 volt question
Those old 5 solenoid setups were pretty good and probably can handle the 35% voltage increase, but You can easily drop the activation voltage to 40v.
Just move the wire that goes from the "speed box" to the charger receptacle (+48v) to one of the battery posts that measures 40v from pack negative. |
