Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
I missed on the first post where You said the problem started after the OBC reset.
Make sure the red wire from the charger receptacle is connected to the pack positive battery post in case you disconnected the cables. |

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
It may have been coincidental but thats correct. I only removed the main negative and its back on. I tried to find another cart in the area to test charger on but no luck- ill know more tomorrow afternoon once dealer tries on one of his carts.

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
Odds are you left a wire unhooked when you tried the obc reset. Check for loose unhooked wires.

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
I followed a set of instructions that had me turn key off, reverse on, press accelerator, etc and then unhook negative cable only for a few minutes. Its the only cable I took off but its back on for sure. No idea what happened but im hoping its in the charger and something simple they can fix without me bringing the cart. Thanks again for the replies

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
Was the large cable the only thing connected to that battery post?
Sound like a smaller wire may have been there that came from the charge port. It may have falling down between the batteries without you seeing it was even there. That's the only thing that makes sence. Unhooking that cable and putting it back on should not cause the charger to stop working. |

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
Hopefully this link works , shows a picture of what I meant by "pegged out" . Stayed this way for about an hour then turned off, nothing in between. Wide open, then done

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
That is the way they operate, the OBC regulates the charger current as it passes through it.
Did you verify the pack negative wiring was correct in the cart? |

Re: 98 Club Car, charger pegged out?
Guys I think the O P has a problem that either killer his charger or his obc when he hooked the charger up the first time. He didn't say he sat and watched the charger, it could have kicked off after he left the cart setting there with the charger as soon as he left. The rectifier could have shorted in the charger. My needle never went that far when I used my PD charger. It would go past the 15 but not to the peg. Are it could be something in the cart that caused this.
That's my 2 c I give up. |
