Default Wanting to add USB port

Many for sale from a few dollars to $70. The higher dollar USB ports have are listed as 20-65v. Is this needed or will a cheaper one do. If I am going to do it I would like to do it correctly. Thank you in advance

Bird, if you have a 12 volt source you have many options of those.

Like MC stated, it is more what you have available at your cart. If you have a 48v->12v reducer, any will work. If you are going to be tapping off a 48v source, you need one capable of handling that as most of the small ones are good to 24v.

And if you do not have a reducer, this may be the perfect time to add one.

I have a 48V 2001 CC DS. Where would I get the 12V power from?

You'll need to install a 48-12V voltage reducer to run 12 volt accessories or install a separate 12v battery. The reducer will pull power equally across the whole pack instead of draining 2 batteries which would cause an imbalance and earlier battery failure.

Look here for good reducers:

Is the 48v to 12v reducer better than a 16v to 12v? Would think it is since it spreads the drainage over all 6 batteries.

Yes, 16 to 12 would only use two batts and defeat the purpose. 48 to 12 is what you want.

I would get a usb + have a 12 volt plug so you could use if you are in the middle of nowhere, light 12 volt tire pump, ect.
