It would be the encoder part of the bearing, not the bearing part of the bearing, if this is your issue. The encoder (speed/direction sensor) is integrated with the bearing.

I dont know why they grind when they fail but replacing the encoder bearing has fixed it 100% in my case.
The Curtis cars have a similar issue only the car wont move when it gives up. Thankfully EZ uses a much easier to replace sensor on top of the motor accessed by removing a torx screw. The later motors with this sensor are compatible with the Danahar variants via a small wire harness adapter. |

I am trying to find an exploded view of the motor so i can figure out the easiest way to tackle the issue, mine does have an access cover on top of motor ,but looks like i have to remove the motor casing to get at anything

Yes remove bagwell cover. Remove motor brake. Then remove the entire motor. Get some help in removing motor.
Before removing motor remove motor cables from controller. |

I don't even disconnect the 3 big cables. The motor will sit in the bagwell, disassemble it there if you want.
