Diff oil check plug
OK, I have searched the forum and it seems I have only one drain/check plug on my 02 TXT PDS. Is that right? So, to change the fluid in my diff, I have to take off the diff cover, correct? Thanks in advance!

Re: Diff oil check plug
The manual calls it a "check fill plug", which indicates to me there should be onr plug for filling/checking and another for draining, but I only have one, which looks like a drain plug.

Re: Diff oil check plug
You are correct in your original post.....there is only ONE plug.....and YES, to drain it, you remove the pan.

Start at the bottom of page 2. Don't over torque bolts when reinstalling the pan. Alternatively you can remove the fill plug and suck old oil out with a pump commonly used for boats. Replace with 10 0z. of oil. |

Re: Diff oil check plug
Could one install a universal automatic transmission oil pan drain plug kit in the differential cover?

Re: Diff oil check plug
You could. I would not do it. If you hit something with the bottom of the pan it would probably do more than just dent it like tearing out the plug and loosing the oil. No more often than you need to change the oil would it be worth it?

Re: Diff oil check plug
I run mainly on the road, sometimes in the yard. I change my diff. lube every spring. It sure would make it easier! I think that I'll install one come spring.
