Default Differential problem

Got the cart all back together and have taken several test drives around the neighborhood with no problems then i go to take my wife for her first ride and when i step on the throtle it won't go and i here what sounds like gears just barely bumping together. I have checked the hubs and they seem fine. Is there a "most likely" culpret? Input shaft? Did not have any popping, clicking, etc. beforehand. Happened all at once. I did drop the pan off to take a look. Pulled both axils and they look fine as well as all the gears i could see from the bottom.

Provided the battery pack is okay - (you are not loosing a battery when accelerating)
The axles are not stripped - then it must be the input shaft. Time to pull the motor and see.

Mechanical stuff isn't my long suit, but I think there are three sets of splines that could be stripped.
Motor/Differential input shaft.
Axle/Hub
Axle/Differential gears.

Of course I might be wrong, I've never had a differential apart and just looking at the exploded view in the Dana manual.

ScottyB and JohnnieB both have great advice.
If the axle was not disassembled I would suggest rolling the cart an inch or 2 at a time and pressing throttle each time to see if it would try to move. JohnnieB would know more about this. Sometimes on starter motor this will help diagnose issues. I don't know if this applies to cart motors. Bad spot on armature or commutator.
If you didn't find metal shavings or gear teeth in the pan oil it points to the splines on the input shaft, motor splines, or the coupler between them. It is unlikely that it is the splines in the spider gears in the carrier.

I have heard about the table cover.

After thinking about this I would bet on batteries, wiring, or bad connections and not axle problems.
He will probably let us know.

Turns out it was the hub. After pulling the motor and input shaft and seeing that it looked like new i decided to re-examine the hubs. Comparing the two the groves on one were deeper than on the other. Grabbed a spare and put on and guess what. Would have saved myself alot of time and hassel by looking a little closer to begin with. Anyway, i figured if i need new hubs i might as well go for Scotty's disk brake kit. Already ordered.

Reusing is "greener" than recycling.
