EZGO Rear End Gears
I have a 1995 Western (EZGO platform). Looking for more speed without loosing too much torque. Does EZGO make a medium speed gear, say 10.5 to 1 for my year cart? Could not find one online, only 8 to 1, but perhaps someone in the 'buggies gone wild world' has found a source?

Re: EZGO Rear End Gears
Imaginative Manufacturing makes a 2-speed differential (10:1 and 20:1) that might fit.
Also, there is a company that makes custom gear sets. I'm not 100% sure, but I think sportscoupe has the name. |

Re: EZGO Rear End Gears
If it's the same Dana rear end that's on my 2008 TXT, you can use a set of gears for a Gem Cart. I sourced a 10:1 and put it in my 84V AC project.

It appears EZGO changed dana rear end design and the 10:1 option won't go into mine. I'm starting to investigate finding a used RXV rear end and seeing if I could swap mine out, but it looks like I will be spending too much time and money to do this, but when has that ever been a problem with cart mods? |

Re: EZGO Rear End Gears
A RXV rear end does not have brake drums like your cart does. It uses a whole different electric braking system

Re: EZGO Rear End Gears
I have taken the "guts" (ring gear & intermediate shaft) out of a rxv, & put it in my marathon axle (also did similar on a yamaha G22). It required specific non-stock bearings for the intermediate shaft (which i had on the shelf at the shop). I used the stock gears with the intention of gearing "down" for bigger tires & climbing on a "almost zero $ budget", as i had "take-out" gears from rxv to use. The stock 16.99:1 ring and intermediate got me about 14.5:1 with a marathon input shaft & gear. I'm not sure what the "final ratio" you would get using this idea, and the rxv 10.5:1 high speed gears, but i'm pretty sure they can be made to fit without machine work.
