Wiring a 48v converter
First of all I would like to welcome myself to your forum. I have been doing a lot of reading here and it's been a great deal deal of help. Thanks Guys
Second I have a 2009 ezgo rxv which I am installing lights and a 48v dc dc converter. I bought the converter from a dealer here in Canada and it has a key switch activation wire on it. I already know how to hook the other 4 wires up I just would like some help with the other wire an where to install it. I think I have to wire it on to the solenoid so when I use the key in either forward or reverse it will energize the converter so this way it's not allways being powered. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Jeff Just going to put a extra switch in from 48v key switch wire to turn converter on and off as needed. This way I am not touching the factory wiring or components. Guess I posted to soon :) Last edited by Arlopear; 04-17-2015 at 08:30 AM.. Reason: Found my answer |

Re: Wiring a 48v converter
Hi..
Leaving factory key switch/wiring alone You can wire to switched side of sol. then.. 1) accessories can be powered when key is in F/N/R 2) acc. will power off with key off or at power time out. You can wire "straight " to batts(with fuse) and use the enable wire and remote toggle to power accessories. You can attach inverter to batts and leave inverter "always on" . This puts slight drain on batts. but does not seem to affect charging or bother stock charger. This makes any work on batts fun as inverter "always on" makes a " purty " spark when connecting batts |

Re: Wiring a 48v converter
Do NOT use key switch wire on RXV's That has caused Several controllers to fail ($,$$$.$$ mistake)
"Just going to put a extra switch in from 48v key switch wire to turn converter on and off as needed. This way I am not touching the factory wiring or components. Guess I posted to soon :)" Using wire to key switch is the very definition of using factory wire harness. A definite no no on RXV's. Please read multiple posts on this forum "I connected ______ to keyswitch now my RXV wont run." Controller is EXPENSIVE. Run a separate wire from batts. (don't forget fuse). |

Re: Wiring a 48v converter
All went well with the help from here. Ran seperate wires from batteries for the converter and the key/switch (activate) wire. All are fused and I mounted a switch under seat out of the way so only I can turn the converted on. Don't want the kids play with it if I had it on the dash.
Took me 5 hrs today and all the lights work perfect all ready for the season. Thanks for the replys guys. |

I have an 09 rxv and installed this way almost a year ago and have no issues. This is how the EZGO instructions say to wire its converter for the RXV. I did it with another reducer. |
