G16 rear end issues
Hi I have a 2000 g16 gas golf cart. I just bought it and am chassis down the original owners problem. I have a pretty good knowledge of carts UT this one has me stumped. The cart has a loud winning/ grinding noise at higher speeds I removed the belt and reed the engine up to eliminate the motor being the issue . Seem to run great no strange noises. I theN spun the secondary clutch by hand and could here slight ticking. I replaced input shaft bearing thinking this was the issue. Took it for about an hour with no issues then the noise came back but worse and louder. I pulled the rear end apart today and the gear oil had very small metal chips in it all bearings in rear end seem to be good.but the input shaft gear seems to have some small chips taken out of it . So all I need is new input shaft? What about the gears this shaft ride on they don't seem to be affected bit then again I can't really tell. Any advice would be great thank you.

Re: G16 rear end issues
Need to take parts to somebody that knows what they are looking at.
The Dana trannys are noted for eating up input shafts. Usually when metal in oil, bearings and gears don't last long. |
