Need help with 2007 TXT PDS cart
I seemed to have multiple issues with a new to me cart 2007 TXT PDS. I was told is was a 2007 ( tag missing), but has a build date: L0806.
It has had a battery post tapped since the old threaded end busted off. While running the other day it went dead - the jerry-rigged post lost connection. As I was checking cables is did arc a few times. After I repaired the connection the cart is dead still - reading 37+ volts. I did see where the F2 wire had either melted or rubbed on the B+ stud of the solenoid - so they have touched and grounded out. So I am now assuming this caused additional issues. I tried the Diagnostic Fault Code - got no codes. Then I unhooked the pedal wire just to see if it would throw a code - that code worked. So, Im kinda stuck on where to go next. Bad solenoid or controller, which I hope not. I just found a copy of the PDS Repair and Service Manual that I can use when I get home today for troubleshooting. Can anyone provide additional information that may help me resolve this issue? BWT: Large post on solenoid are 'open' - contunity test. |

Re: Need help with 2007 TXT PDS cart
All 36V PDS drive systems are more or less the same, so the year doesn't matter much.
The Run/Tow switch is supposed to be in the Tow position whenever a wire is connected or disconnected, so between the arcing battery post and the F2 wire shorting to B+, the possibility of the controller being bad is high. Does the solenoid click when pedal is pushed? |

Re: Need help with 2007 TXT PDS cart
If the motor "f" wire rubbed through to the main terminal on the solenoid the controller is almost surely trashed. The field circuit in sepex controllers is quite sensitive to faults (like "short to B+"). There is more work to do, but that is a really bad starting point.

Re: Need help with 2007 TXT PDS cart
It was indeed a bad controller. I ended up going back with a stock Curtis unit. I wanted to pull the trigger On Scottys #808 package. I talked myself out of it since my kids do drive it a lot. They hit enough stuff at 13 mph! Can't imagine 20+
First test run with freedom chip installed netted 18.5 mph on 5 year old batts that have sat for over two weeks. Will charge overnight and see what I have tomorrow. |
