Default replacing 10yr old t-105's

I recently received a 2006 txt with what i assume to be the original batteries. they are stamped j5 for oct 2005. The cart is practically brand new with only about 40 hrs of use. It belonged to an older couple who had it for a vacation home. When i received the cart it had been sitting for a few years and the batteries were bone dry. they won't hold a decent charge and one battery only reads 4.xx volts while the others read 6.xx. Since there 10 yrs old I'm gonna replace them.

locally I can get trojan t-105's for $540 a set or us2200's for $595. I was leaning towards the us battery's until i read that they had issues with obtaining full charge. Is this still and issue? i have a power wise 2 charger

thanks for you help

Default Re: replacing 10yr old t-105's

The original powerwise charger was not designed to charge to the slightly higher "finish voltage" that a US battery wants to see at the end of charge. Its not a flaw in the battery, but a design parameter of the original charger. I would probably stick with the Trojan batteries. Or, you could get a DPI charger that has user selectable modes for different brands of batteries and a float mode to ensure batteries are 100% full after the charge cycle completes. Then sell the original charger to recoup some of the cost of the new charger.
