Default G1 coil replacement

My G 1 started acting up, missing, wouldn't accelerate, bucking, etc., barely made it home and up to the shop. I jacked it up and hooked the spark plug tester onto the plug wire and cranked it over. It started and ran poorly, but ran. It seemed like when I pushed the foot feed down the spark would get weak, so I ordered a new coil. Anything special to changing the coil? Looks simple, 2 bolts and hook up 1 wire and change spark plug end. What am I overlooking?? It has a new gas filter and carb this spring, over 1/2 tank of gas. Thanks, Chris
