Yamaha G1 gas will not start
I have a 1980 G1 gas model Y10. I rebuilt the engine this spring. I have about 2 hours on it. One morning went out and stepped on the pedal and nothing. Between cleaning the ignition switch and rebuilding s solenoid I fixed that problem. Now when I step on the pedal it spins and backfires but will not run. The pedal switch clicks before the throttle plate moves. I've got gas and spark. It ran fine up to this point. There has to be something stupid that I am missing. Any ideas?

Re: Yamaha G1 gas will not start
Check all your connections and make sure something isn't unplugged. There are three or four wires on the passenger side of the engine, a harness, that has cannon type plugs. Sometimes those come loose. Also check the connections for corrosion.
Did you check your spark plug? |

Re: Yamaha G1 gas will not start
It's a new plug. I think I'll try a hotter plug and some ethanol free gas and check all connections again.
