If you mean the markers for cam/crank alignment, nothing has changed from G22, same cam as g22 actually.

Advance the cam timing .sorry forgot to put one of the most important words in there. I was thinking of advancing it a tooth. But was wondering if anyone has done this and what their thoughts were.

I did advance the ignition timing already 7 deg. But thinking of advancing it mechanically also.

Advancing the cam will lower the powerband. It is most useful if you have a higher rpm cam and want to run it at lower rpm. Running a cam at lower rpm also tends to make it larger, however the trade is at lower rpm you make less HP just due to rpm being lower. Retarding the cam will make it rev more but often this is not done much because the cam in essence gets smaller at higher rpm. Car cams do this up to 4 degrees no problem, more than that is a special case, at least back when I was messing with engines. Issue with lawn motors is one tooth is typically much more than that, it goes to far and you lose more than you gain. But some do it, some say a vanny advanced has lots of torque at idle and will pull a wheelie and they like that. Seems like it would kill the top end, but I don't know never ran one like that. I do know they don't rev that well to start with.

With a cart you also may need to change the clutch shifting to realize the powerband you have. I've had to change mine to shift at 4K now because the clone likes it better there.

Just trying to help! The best way is do it and test it to see what you have, but it can be a lot of work for nothing....but then you know. We experimented a lot with it when building boat engines, because we didn't want rpm too high or it would blow up. In a powerboat you might keep it WOT at top rpm for 20min straight racing someone. At the time we could not get the cam we wanted large enough, so we used a higher rpm cam and advanced it. Boat cams are different than car cams, they must have a flat torque curve or you can't get your boat on plane and another reason you didn't want a high rpm engine in those boats. It took years of screwing around to get the right combination lol, after a while it was 20 min to get the engine in or out of the boat. It was weekend fun.
