Default 36 volt to 48 volt?

So i want to upgrade my cart this spring/summer. this forum has been a great help for everything I've done so far. Im going to need new batteries so I'm thinking of upgrading from 36v to 48v. my question is 6-8v batteries or 8-6v batteries? if you guys have 8 batteries where do you put the extra 2? in the back well? my cart is a 2001 ezgo txt 36v. I already plan on hooking up with Scotty B for a new controller, heavy duty FR switch and solenoid. I already upgraded to 2g cables, have a lift and 22" tires plus i camo wrapped the cart. If i have read correctly i can still use my stock 36v motor at 48v? I use the cart for tooling around the campground and also use it for hunting. it struggles getting up small hills. We don't have any big hills on our lease, I'm in Southeast Michigan. I also plan on recovering the seats this summer. Thanks in advance for any help!!!!

Keep in kind if you go with 6-8v batteries you will need a 48-12 voltage converter for any 12v lights and accessories.
