48 volt batteries in a 36 volt ez-go golf cart
Can I replace the 6 volt batteries in my EZ Go with 8 volt batteries without changing the control module. The module is rated up to 48 volts.
Will this give more torque,or speed,or neither? Thanks in advance for all help on this matter. |

1. Check what kind of cart you have?

Going from 36V to 48V is always doable, but you need to check somethings first. -What type of controller is in the cart? - solenoid , resistor and diode? - Gauge wires? - Motor Type? 3. You will need a new 48V Charger and possibly upgrade certain components to support the increased voltage. |

what "control module" do you have? that's the real question.....is it STOCK or an AFTERMARKET one like ALLTREX.....and if so....which model is it.

Quote:
Going to 48V will give you about 33% more torque and about 33% more speed, but a compatible controller and solenoid are needed, as well as a 48V charger and most likely some new high current cables. (Unlike 6V batteries, 8V batteries have both terminals on same side and the interconnecting cables have to be longer.) |
