Question about wire upgrade
When upgrading wires, what’s the explanation in price difference between ordering a set like this
https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F291682113841 Or ordering a $250+ set? Or even buying 15 feet of 2g AWG on Amazon for $35 bucks and making your own? Looking to upgrade my wires but just trying to figure out why battery cables would be $250 dollars or more? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Re: Question about wire upgrade
Because that is a "partial" cable set. That kit only gets you the batteries and to the solenoid and to the OBC (And have fun getting the lug on the Neg thru the OBC - Not going to happen). You still need the solenoid to the controller, the controller and motor cables, and if it is a series cart, all the cables from the FNR switch!! A lot more then 15' will ever give you....

Re: Question about wire upgrade
I just installed a 13 piece 2ga from amazon 109$. Huge upgrade from the trash I had on there. Maybe the high $ kits are fully tinned wire? I think to DIY it’s around 28ft of wire + Heavy duty crimper/cutters + connectors + shrink wrap. I wanted to make mine, but no time right now.

Re: Question about wire upgrade
When buying cable to make your own you want to use welding cable due to it’s high current carrying capacity and flexibility. Welding cable has a lot of strands of small gauge wire which makes it very flexible. Things that add cost to cables is a fancy braided jacket or the use of tinned copper. Tinned copper is generally used in areas of high corrosion probability like marine. Okay for a golf cart but not really necessary.
