07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
I have an 07 Yamaha Electric drive with the yellow label team axle and today I was going up a hill and it stopped going and started grinding really bad. Before this it would clank here and there but now it will not go anywhere and just grinds forward and reverse. Before this is was also squealing a little bit at low speeds. Any ideas?

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
Pull the wheels and the hubs first, look for stripped splines in the hub. Ya better hope you find a stripped hub, because all other problems cost way more to fix.

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
So when I take the wheel off and watch the hub while pressing the gas. Nothing moves but you can still hear grinding. Am I doing this right and from this I assume it's not the hubs

That's the axle shaft. Check inside for the hub splines that mate with those splines on the axle.

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
I'll check the other side to confirm. If it's not hubs can I assume its something in the rear end?

Re: 07 Yamaha electric drive grinding rear end
Yes, or possibly motor coupler, that could be confirmed by pulling the motor and inspection.
