Angry 2001 EZ GO TXT low end power ---Clutch maybe???

I have a 2001 TXT GAS and it seems the drive clutch engages to quick, The engine won't rev up high enough before the drive clutch starts to engage. It does this more so after I drive it for a few minutes. It gets so bad that I have to push it to get going.

Once it's going seems to be fine on mid and top end.

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED :-)

FORGOT TO NOTE -------

Valves are adjusted , compression 135psi cyl 2- 140psi on cyl 1
brand new fuel pump ,lines , fuel filter, air filter, spark plugs (BPR5ES) 290 robin
carb was cleaned --- even bought another used one

basically, I get get it going if i push it then it will drive fine but if i stop it wont get going by it self. when i give it gas the drive the engine revs slowly ,drive clutch engages and it will stay just like that and the cart tries to move but nothing until i manually push it like the Flinstone days.

well your compression is getting low but should not affect it that much, there something else going on. not getting enough fuel or this a long shot but the mufflers do plug up from time to time, unbolt the muffler at the manifold and see if that helps

I would say do a commpression check i'm betting you need to adjust the valves. Not sure but i would check that also. good luck let us know.

thanks guys for the help. I was also thinking of the exhaust bucause it does smell real bad. And the gas is new. I have burned out exhaust pipes before with acetylene. or maybe just get a performance pipe.

The bad gas smell may be because your engine is burning oil internally. Your compression below 145 is bad. Are you sure you set the valves correctly? Proper clearance is .004". You can also get a "smell" if your exhaust pipe outlet is crushed. Check that and if it is - just hack the tip off with a saw...
